Does using cruise control too much harm the vehicle in any way?

Coadster asked:

My boyfriend told me a few nights ago that using cruise control too much or on roads that are only 35 or 45mph can harm the vehicle, however he couldn’t tell me how. I use it everywhere because it supposedly saves on gas. Could anyone clear this up for me? Thanks.

Never heard of what your boyfriend said, obviously he isn’t very intelligent in the automotive field, the answer is no.

No. The only problem cruise can cause is if you use it when it’s wet or very slippery. If your tires aren’t accelerating your car because they’re slipping, the cruise control will only give it more gas, which could cause even more loss of traction and loss of control.
